Meet Jill, Owner + Lead Designer
In 2018, I took a leap of faith; leaving a full-time career in wedding planning and events to pursue my passion for florals and plants. What began as a small creative venture offering planning, rentals, and floral work quickly evolved into a full-time focus on floral design. With nearly seven years of experience in wedding planning, and an additional seven years in floral design; I bring a thoughtful, big-picture approach to every celebration I design.
In 2020, I opened my own flower shop, where I spent over five years growing a beloved, award-winning business rooted in creativity, quality, and community. During that time, the shop was recognized with multiple honours, including Best Flower Shop in Hamilton for five consecutive years (Top Choice Awards), Top Hamilton Flower Shop (Canadian Choice Awards), and awards from CommunityVotes Hamilton and Flamborough. That chapter provided invaluable experience in design, sourcing, logistics, and working closely with clients and fellow vendors.
In mid 2025, Lace & Birch Florals naturally evolved into a studio-based floral design business focused exclusively on weddings and special events. This intentional shift allows me to offer a more personalized, design-led experience while dedicating my creative energy to meaningful celebrations and my growing family. Creating thoughtful, artful floral designs for life’s most cherished moments remains at the heart of everything I do.
As a self-taught floral designer, I’m continually learning, refining my craft, and drawing inspiration from the natural world. I spend time growing a small cutting garden and collaborate closely with local flower and plant growers whenever possible, incorporating fresh, seasonal blooms into my work.
Outside of the studio, I love being outdoors, gardening, traveling with my husband, exploring new places, and spending time with our two dogs. I’m also a lifelong plant enthusiast, always adding to my ever-growing collection.
