Meet Jill, Owner + Lead Designer
In late August 2018, I took a leap of faith; leaving my full-time career in wedding planning and events to pursue my true passion for florals and plants. What started as a small venture offering wedding planning, rentals, and occasional floral work soon blossomed into a full-time pursuit. After nearly seven years as a wedding planner, I made the bold decision to focus entirely on flowers; a creative shift that has brought me both joy and growth.
In December 2019, I took the next big step and purchased my own flower shop, which I proudly opened in January 2020. Since then, the journey has been nothing short of incredible. My shop received multiple awards, including Best Flower Shop in Hamilton for five consecutive years (Top Choice Awards, recognized across North America), as well as Top Hamilton Flower Shop for two years running (Canadian Choice Awards), and accolades from CommunityVotes Hamilton and Flamborough.
June 2025 marked the beginning of a beautiful new chapter: one of motherhood, and another meaningful evolution for Lace & Birch. After 5.5 wonderful years of growing my flower shop from the ground up in Carlisle, one of my proudest accomplishments to date, I’ve sold the shop and transitioned to a studio-based format focused solely on wedding and special event florals. This shift allows me to dedicate more time to my growing family while continuing to pursue my true passion: creating thoughtful, artful floral designs for life’s most cherished celebrations. I’m so excited for all that lies ahead and deeply grateful for the journey so far.
Being self-taught, I’ve spent countless hours honing my floral skills, pursuing further education, and growing a small cutting garden to incorporate fresh, seasonal blooms into my designs. I also work closely with local flower and plant growers to ensure that my arrangements reflect the beauty of the local community.
Outside of floral design, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s gardening, traveling with my husband, or exploring nature with our two dogs. I’m also a proud plant enthusiast, always adding to my growing collection.
